The south east corner of Hwy 7 / Warden is located at the centre of our town. I don't know what kind of facility will be built in there. But I think it should be a group of buildings related to "The Capital of High Tech"

Tao called Markhamvoice for following suggestions: Library closes too early on Friday and opens too late on Sunday; Add more Chinese titles to the library collection ; Suggest Economist/Sun to consider to have a Chinese section ; Suggest to use the site north of Pacific Mall to build Chinese Cultural Centre. Many retirees with artistic/cultural background live in Markham.

In the past 10 days alone, I have been witness to two
major accidents involving 7 cars which could have been easily averted.
And, it is totally the fault of officials in charge because it is very
easy to prevent that kind of accident.
The problem is that the cars making a left from Steeles (westbound) making
a left onto Leslie (southbound) get confused and cross on to the oncoming
traffic lane because proper pavement markings are missing. The solution
which may not cost much at all is to mark the pavement with the turn lines
that show the right path!
Swift action is necessary to resolve this issue before somebody gets
killed or seriously injured (if not happened yet!).
I believe that both cities of Markham and North York are vulnerable to
possible lawsuits.

Reference to Ali Nezhad's suggestion:

Mr. Lau,
Further to our conversation, the Transportation Services Division, North York District, has reviewed your concerns regarding westbound left turning vehicle movements at Steeles Avenue and Leslie Street.

Our investigation has determined that motorist awareness of which lane to turn into after conducting westbound left turns would be increased by installing left turn guide skips within the intersection. In this regard, these pavement markings were installed on November 3, 2010.

Should you have any questions, please contact me directly.

Jay Malone
Transportation Services
Supervisor, Traffic Operations
North York District
